Dave and I decided to take Tate to a pumpkin patch on Sunday. Tate got up from his nap and we had about 1-1/2 hours before dinner, so we decided to go to a pumpkin patch that we had been to last year.
Me in the car, after we had been driving about 10 min: "You have directions, right?"
Dave: "No, I thought you knew where it is. Didn't you just see it in the paper?"
Can you see where this is going?
Me: "Well, I think it's on Springville Road."
We drive a little bit more, then turn on Springville Road. Tate's in the backseat, playing with a hat. We drive about 5 more minutes.
Me: "I'm getting a little nervous, we're almost to Mt. Vernon and we haven't seen it yet."
Dave: "Me too. Is it on Hwy 1 instead?"
Me: "If I knew that, we wouldn't be having this conversation!"
Dave's dad happens to call, so Dave asks him to look in the paper for the pumpkin patches. He tells us it's on Whittier Road (which the one we were looking for was so NOT on). By this time it's about 4:15 and we're supposed to be at dinner at 5. Tate's getting antsy in the backseat. I'm a little ticked myself that we can't find it. So we turn around and drive another 20 min. to pumpkin patch #2. On the way, the sun is in Tate's eyes.
Tate: "Too bright! Don't like!"
Me: "Put the hat over your eyes."
Tate: "Too bright! Don't like!"
Dave's trying to distract Tate by pointing out cows and tractors along the way, but Tate can't see them because of the sun, so he's just getting more ticked. Can you picture this great family fun day?
Finally, we get there and get out of the car. It's very windy at the patch.
Tate: "Bo windy! Bo windy!" (He doesn't say M or N very well)
Me: "Let's get a wagon and get some pumpkins!"
Tate: "Bo windy! Put hood up! Bo windy, bo wagon!"
You can picture how the rest of this went. We quickly picked out a couple of pumpkins and saw a goat eating his cage, which greatly amused Tate and he talked about it all the way home.
Tate, in the car: "Don't eat the caaaaaage!"
Me: "What do you think the goat's name is?"
Tate: "BAAAAA"
