I never knew that becoming a parent would make me laugh as much as I do. Don't get me wrong, we have plenty of moments when we are definitely NOT laughing, but we have our fair share of funny moments too.
I had the afternoon off the other day, and it was nice outside, so I decided to take Tate to get ice cream at the local DQ. We each got a small dipped cone. I thought that maybe dipping it would make it
A. less likely to fall on the ground mid-lick and
B. less likely to drip all over.
I was right about the first thing, wrong about the second.
Tate did a pretty good job wolfing his cone down. When he was done, he looked down at his shirt and said loudly "CRAB!" I stared at him, trying to figure out what that could possibly mean. He said it again, "OH CRAB! Mommy, I spilled all over my shirt!"
Apparantly he picked up a phrase I use a little too often - oh, crap! I couldn't help but laugh while trying to figure out how to tell him that's not really a very nice thing for him to say. I decided that it wasn't fair to encourage him by laughing and then tell him he shouldn't say that, so we just laughed together as I wiped his face and hands.
It's the little things in life that really make it worthwhile, isn't it?
