Big Boy Unnernare

Unnernare = underwear in Tatespeak.
"I keep it dry!" = the theme for potty training weekend.
Farties = Smarties (as in the candy he gets when he keeps them dry).

We didn't have big plans for Easter, and we figured it was about time that we potty train Tate.  My sister had sent me an e-book on a 3 day potty training method, which involved putting him in underwear and telling him every 5 minutes to let us know if he needed to go potty.

Dave was home with Tate on Friday and they had about a 33% success rate.  Saturday was a good day.  We bravely decided to venture out to an Easter egg hunt.  We thought since we'd only be gone about a half an hour, it would be okay.  We took him potty before we left.  On the way there, I told Tate to let me know if he needed to go potty.  Of course, he decided that he needed to go.  I took him into a bathroom at a park shelter.  He decided the inside was too scary looking and refused to go.  So we went to find some Easter eggs.  The hunt lasted about 2 minutes, then we headed to the car.  On the way home, he kept telling us he needed to go potty.  Dave stopped at a gas station and took him in.  Too scary, he wouldn't go.  So we hurried home.

He really didn't have to go.  False alarm.  But you'd really hate to think it was a false alarm and not take him, then have it be real.  Somewhere around this time Tate also figured out that if he told us he needed to go potty, then went even a teeny bit, he would get a treat.  Sigh.

Through the week, he has consistently been getting better.  He loves wearing his Cars and Elmo underwear - thank you Disney!  Even if they are ridiculously expensive!!
